About Katrin Gaethke:

A camera is my tool to observe the enviroment with its people, nature and special happenings,capturing moments which we see but sometimes overlook.

I was born and raised in East Berlin and from an early age I decided to take photographs with a camera which I had received as a gift from my grandfather.

When the wall came down and I first entered the colorful, overwhelming, world of the West, I found myself starring at the beauty of life.

I looked for details as a way of escaping from the unrealistic "real" world in western Europe.

After studying International Business in Germany I decided to move to San Francisco to fulfill my dream of studying photography, I am fortunate to now say that my dream is my work.

Additionally I'm a mother of an amazing child as well as a wife of a comedy performer.
